MCC XC Runners Compete at 2024 Houghton Highlander Invitational
MCC's men's cross country team competed in the 8000-meter Houghton Highlander Invitational, showcasing their skill and determination.
ROCHESTER, NY — Monroe CC's men's cross country team competed with teams across the region for the 2024 Houghton Highlander Invitational, hosted by Houghton College. The race spanned a total of 8,000 meters or just under five miles.
MCC's runners displayed their drive to succeed and their skill on the relatively easy course at Houghton. The runners were led by freshman Kyle DeRomanis who clocked in at 29:49.6, pacing at 6:00 minutes per mile. Deromanis finished 81st overall, maintaining a steady pace through the course. Benjamin Brundage followed, finishing in 110th place with a time of 32:37.0. Jacob Schindler and Corey Maltsev also contributed, completing the race with times of 36:53.7 and 60:49.6, and placements of 127th and 140th respectively.
The MCC runners will look to improve on their initial numbers, shaving off times in the much anticipated NJCAA Region III Cross Country Championships.
