ROCHESTER - The MCC women's basketball team hit the holiday break on a high note, taking down Western New York Elite 88-53 Tuesday evening.
The win was the eighth in a row for the Tribunes, who are 9-4 overall.
Tyese Purvis (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) connected on seven of 11 shots and had a team-high 18 points to lead Monroe. Dionne Coe (Brooklyn, NY/Murry Bergtraum) added 16 points and five assists.
Ball movement was key, as MCC had 26 assists on 34 made baskets on the night.
Rayia McKnight (Baltimore, MD/Western) had 14 points and Tyra Jones (Rochester, NY/East) chipped in with nine points and five rebounds. Sydni Lester (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) and Karin Robinson (Queens, NY/Mary Louis Academy) added eight points apiece.
