MCC women claim Pavia title

The Tribunes drop Monroe college to move to 13-1 on the year.

ROCHESTER - Tournament MVP Dionne Coe scored a game-high 28 points to lead the MCC women's basketball team to a 77-52 victory over Monroe College in the 20th annual Pete Pavia Memorial Scholarship Basketball Tournament Sunday.

Coe had 21 of her 28 in the first half as the 24th-ranked Tribunes (13-1) opened a seven-point lead. The sophomore hit three 3-pointers and added an old-fashioned 3-point play to give Monroe the advantage.

The Tribunes then outscored the Mustangs 44-26 over the final 20 minutes to clinch the victory.

Ayana Ratliff finished with nine points, five assists and four steals for MCC. Rose Ayala added eight points and Tyra Jones and Shelby Powell added seven each.

Nubia Haynes tallied six points and seven rebounds off the bench and joined Coe on the All-Tournament Team.

Breana Bey and Tiara Brown were named to the All-Tournament team for the Mustangs.
