ROCHESTER - Freshman Abby White scored 15 of her game-high 18 points in the first half as the MCC women's basketball team opened a huge lead and never looked back in an 82-49 win over Finger Lakes Community College Tuesday evening.
White connected on four 3's in the first quarter as the Tribunes (3-0) jumped out to a 34-12 lead after 10 minutes. The point guard scored all 18 of her points from beyond the arc.
Deja Carroll added 18 points and nine rebounds for Monroe, which held the Lakers to 27 percent shooting on the game.
After the huge first quarter, the Tribunes continued to pick up steam in the second. MCC scored the first 17 points of the frame, and a late bucket and free throw were all FLCC registered as MCC led 51-15 at the break.
Kiki Bynes finished with 11 points and eight assists and Adre'onia Coleman added 10 points and nine rebounds for MCC. Chelsey Wilbern chipped in with nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
MCC held a 60-34 edge on the glass.
