Steinruck leads the way as MCC routs Chesapeake

BALTIMORE - Chelsea Steinruck hit six 3's and scored a team-high 20 to lead the MCC women's basketball team to a 96-69 over Chesapeake College Sunday afternoon.

The victory capped a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Charm City Classic, hosted by Baltimore City Community College. MCC is 11-0 on the season.

Steinruck hit a pair of 3's and scored eight of her career-high 20 as the Tribunes raced to a 32-12 lead after one quarter. Chesapeake cut the lead to 11 at the half, but Monroe proceeded to outscore the Skipjacks 32-18 over the third quarter to pull away.

Adre'onia Coleman finished with 18 points and eight rebounds and Deja Carroll added 14 points, eight boards, and six assists. MCC had 29 assists on 40 made baskets.

Shanice Johnson chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Shyana McLeod scored 11, and Naje Gibson added 10 points and eight boards.  Chelsey Wilbern hauled down 10 rebounds as MCC held a 58-35 edge on the glass.
