Balanced effort key as Monroe routs Mercyhurst

NORTH EAST, Penn. - Sierra Green led six players in double figures with 27 points as the top-ranked MCC women's basketball team rolled to a 114-43 victory over Mercyhurst North East in a Western New York Athletic Conference game Wednesday evening.

The Tribunes improved to 6-0 in WNYAC play and 16-1 overall. Monroe is ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Division 2 national poll.

Green connected on seven 3-pointers and also added seven assists and a pair of steals. Monroe finished with 18 steals total, which was part of a defense that forced 31 turnovers on the night.

Jaynelle Robinson finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Samirah Henderson knocked down four 3's and scored 16. Lanay Rodney tallied 15 points and 10 boards, Erica Abitante scored 14, and Shalix Hines added 11 points, six assists, and four steals.

MCC shot 55 percent on the night (43-for-78) and hit 17 3-pointers. Monroe held Mercyhurst to 31 percent from the floor.
