Monroe's season ends in sub-regionals
Adirondack holds off Monroe in five sets.
ROCHESTER - The MCC volleyball team saw its 2018 season come to an end in a heart-racing, five-set defeat at the hands of SUNY Adirondack in a Region III, sub-regional contest Tuesday evening.
The Timberwolves prevailed 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 15-9. The Tribunes finish the season 18-11.
Monroe took the first set before dropping the next two. Adirondack looked as if it would finish it off in the fourth as the Timberwolves broke out to a 17-9 lead, but MCC rallied to force a deciding fifth set.
Adirondack then took control in the fifth to earn the win and advance to this weekend's regional tournament.
Stephany Paredes was big at the net for the Tribunes, finishing with 12 blocks and nine assists. Julie Cicotta added 14 kills and 26 digs, while Hannah DeLorenzo had 11 kills, 19 digs, and 20 assists.
Maryssa Greer also had a team-high 26 digs and Kierstin Hammond added 21 digs. Catherine Brumsted chipped in with 18 assists.
