Aced! Tribs Sweep Conference Rival Thunder Wolves 3-0
ROCHESTER, NY - Tribunes volleyball opened their season at Monagan Court with a 3-0 sweep of their conference rivals the SUNY Niagara Thunder Wolves. It took a set for the Tribunes to settle into the match, fighting the quality opening performance of the Thunder Wolves. Recording 11 kills, but also had eight errors, on the 33 attempts resulting in a .091 hitting percentage in the first set, which was riddled with seven and eight-hit rallies. The Tribs were, however, able to break through and take set one winning 25-21, and from then on it was smooth sailing.
The Tribunes dominated the set, winning 25-10. In the second set, MCC showcased their efficiency with 11 kills and just two errors on 30 attempts, achieving an impressive .300 hitting percentage.
Riding their momentum, the Tribunes confidently closed out the match in the third set. With 12 kills and six errors on 28 attempts, they posted a solid .214 hitting percentage, securing a 25-18 win to wrap up the game and comfortably defend home court.
Noticeable standouts from match one: Madalyn Robinson (Attica, NY) was exceptional, leading in kills (12) and service aces (5), contributing the most points (17.0). Kylee Storch (Williamsville, NY) also made a strong contribution with 6 service aces and 11 points. Sydney Martin (Chittenango, NY) proved to be a stalworth offensive facilitator, with her 20 assists. Alexis Parsons (Penn Yan, NY) had an outstanding attacking efficiency with a kill percentage of .700.
The Tribunes will look to continue their success over the weekend as they travel to Queensbury, NY to take on Hudson Valley Community College and SUNY Adirondack.
