Game 1: Jefferson Defeats MCC in 3-1 Battle
MCC opened the day with a challenging matchup against the Cannoneers of Jefferson Community College. The Tribunes dropped the match 3-1, winning the third set 25-22, but falling short in the other three (20-25, 18-25, 22-25).
Monroe struggled early, with their offense finding it difficult to break through. However, in the third set, they clicked, hitting .296 and showing resilience by pulling off a win. Leading the attack was Madalyn Robinson (Attica, NY) with 11 kills, supported by strong defensive play from Kylee Storch (Williamsville, NY), who added 16 digs. Sydney Martin (Chittenango, NY) directed the offense with 22 assists, while Greyeson McMaster (Elmira, NY) contributed 3 aces.
Unfortunately, despite the promising third set, MCC couldn't maintain momentum, losing a closely contested fourth set, and dropping the first of two matches.
Game 2: #9 Fulton-Montgomery Sweeps MCC
In the second match of the day, MCC faced the formidable #9 Fulton-Montgomery Community College Raiders. The Tribunes were swept 3-0 (11-25, 14-25, 16-25), struggling to keep pace with their opponents' efficient offense.
While Monroe showed flashes of strong play, particularly in the third set where they hit .182, they couldn't consistently overcome the aggressive attack and serving from Fulton-Montgomery.
