Tribunes Fall to Conference Rival ECC Kats
BUFFALO, NY - The Tribunes fell 3-0 to their conference rivals, breaking their short-lived winning streak. After a close 25-22 first-set loss, the Tribunes could not recover, dropping the following two sets 25-14 and 25-21.
MCC struggled offensively, with a hitting percentage of just -.079 across 76 attack attempts. Leading the team in kills was Elana Barrett (Langsville, OH) with four kills and a .333 hitting percentage, contributing significantly to the team's 15 total kills. Madalyn Robinson (Attica, NY) also added four kills, though with a lower hitting percentage of .133, while other key contributors were Norah O'Connor (Plain City, OH) and Jenna Tracy (Hilton, NY) with one and three kills, respectively.
From a serving perspective, the team had a more solid performance, registering nine service aces. Sydney Martin (Chittenango, NY) and Robinson were standouts at the service line, each delivering two aces. Kylee Storch (Williamsville, NY) also made her mark with three service aces, contributing to the team's overall point total. Despite these accomplishments, service errors were a challenge, with the team committing 8 errors, which hampered their momentum at crucial points in the game.
Defensively, the team managed to gather 32 total digs, with Emily Melnik (Webster, NY) and Martin each contributing five. Barrett also played a critical role defensively, adding six digs and recording Monroe's only solo block. However, the team was unable to generate much of a blocking presence, with no block assists recorded and a single block error.
In total, the team's effort culminated in 25 total points, with standout performances from Barrett and Robinson, each contributing six points. Despite these efforts, the overall hitting struggles and service inconsistencies limited Monroe's ability to dominate their opponents.
The Tribunes will look to rebound when they travel to Utica for another Region III POD.
